Urban Micro-Housing
Affordable, sustainable living for dense city cores.
Design Notes
This project explores compact footprints for high-density living.
Inspired by Japanese capsule housing and European co-housing models.
Site Analysis
Located in an urban infill zone with limited sunlight and irregular lot shape.
Adjacent buildings cast complex shadows, influencing light and thermal access.

Sketches
I sketched stackable units that maximize vertical efficiency.
Shared staircases and rooftop gardens emerged as vital communal nodes.

Schematic Design
I diagrammed interlocking modules with pre-fab construction in mind.
Circulation cores placed along shaded sides, with southern glazing emphasized.

Final Design
Features modular units, retractable balconies, and an internal courtyard.
The façade is made from recycled metal and natural cooling strategies.

Reflection on the Project
Good design isn’t about size—it’s about dignity, sustainability, and connection.
This project taught me the art of doing more with less.
